Getting the text informing the family about the transition of Sister Ronke was a very rude shock. It is one of those shocks that remain for long, leaving a hurt that is painful and a gap which requires the matchless grace of God to fill again.
It seems like we have known sister Ronke for ever. She has always been a mother , a big sister, a pastor and so many things to us as a family. She exuded so much warmth and love at all times and engaged us in impactful conversations around our careers, family, spirituality and practically every meaningful and relevant aspect of our lives. She opened her doors to us and never for one moment made us feel unwelcome or like strangers . She was so selfless and through her actions, demonstrated her love and respect for the sanctity of the family as an institution. Just last year when my mum was coming to Abuja, she personally went to pick her at home, dropped her at the airport so that she would not miss the 8am flight and kept calling to ensure that we would not keep her waiting at the airport before picking her up. We take solace and comfort in the assurance that she is in the presence of her father and creator where there is no pain, sickness or fear. Your light shines on ma.
