Mama D

That beautiful gap-toothed smile of yours, so radiant that it would light up a whole room, I can’t quite get my head round knowing I won’t see it again. Neither will I hear you call out “BollieBollie” in greeting, except in my dreams and my heart. I do know you’re in a better place and that is some comfort. You secured your room in our Father’s house in a million ways, because you gave and gave and gave.
You were inspirational to me in so many ways and a role model even without realising it. I loved the way you were like a magnet always pulling people in the family closer. You’re the glue that bound so many together. A fabulous mother to Dami, Anji and Tomisin, you extended that love to Timi, Keri and Ike and all the many others who regarded Harptree Drive as a second home. Your love was limitless. The beautiful partnership you shared with Uncle Strots was a thing of beauty.

My darling Sis you showed how nothing is impossible whether in life, work, studies or any sphere and rarely did you let anything get in your way. Your indefatigable nature used to astound and exhaust me. Even if you had a sermon to prepare for the next day, or an assignment to do and even when you were battling a crisis you were still looking out for others – sacrificing your time and your own wellbeing. You’d be tired, but you’d carry on and would shut me up – or anyone else who questioned you, but you’d soften it with a smile. That’s something that was never far from your face. I’ll miss your sometimes wicked humour and the way you’d make fun of me, or more often your Baba Oko, Surri as only an old friend could.

Mama D, you’ve left a massive void, with your larger-than-life character, your boundless infectious enthusiasm and positivity. Even in your quiet moments, you’d always have a word of encouragement or guidance to share. I don’t even think you realised how much you transformed lives, how much you helped so many and how much love you generated. You were a rock within the Mosuro family, Covenant Assembly, Chatham and beyond. The places where you left your mark are too numerous to list. I’m not exaggerating when I say you’re a legend and you’ve left a wonderful legacy.

You were an angel on earth and God has called you back to his fold. Rest in perfect peace my darling Mama D.
