Tribute to Big Mummy

Big mummy as we all called her, was always filled with joy, there was never a dull moment with her. I’ve lived a good portion of my life with her. Whether it be going to the market, going to work or gathering at the dining table for dinner, being with big mummy was always fun.
I have uncountable memories with her, one of which was when I left Cornerstone to go school. It was very hot and she had this mini-fan she used everywhere. When I was leaving, and knowing that I wouldn’t be back in a while, I took her precious mini-fan with me. Someone else would have been very upset but not my big mummy. She came to meet me in school with a second mini-fan and with a huge smile, told me to just ask next time. It might seem minor but this is a very precious memory that left a lasting impression in my heart.

She was always a giver; there was never a dull moment with her. I can’t count the number of people, friends and family she has connected me with. When I moved to a strange land, the only reason I was able to settle safely was because she connected me with wonderful people where I was going. When I needed help, she never failed to provide for me.

I will miss her smiles and warmth but I know she’s in a better place.
